Domenici Key to Stopping New Nukes Dear Friend in New Mexico, Your senator, Pete Domenici, has a critical role to play in determining whether the U.S. starts building a new nuclear weapon. Senator Domenici is one of the most powerful senators on the House-Senate conference committee that will determine the fate of the “Reliable” Replacement Warhead. His support for the warhead could derail a bipartisan consensus that the program should be canceled. He needs to hear from you and other New Mexicans that you want him to oppose funding for this new nuclear weapon. You have two opportunities in the coming weeks to send a message to Senator Domenici to oppose new nuclear weapons. 1. Contact Senator Domenici today through FCNL’s website Ask him to spend your tax dollars responsibly, rather than on a dangerous weapons program. Remember to edit the sample letter that FCNL provides to include some personal information about yourself and your views, since unique letters have more impact in congressional offices. Contact Sen. Domenici: http://capwiz.com/fconl/issues/alert/?alertid=10348116&type=ta 2. Join FCNL Lobbyist David Culp at a workshop on nuclear weapons, power, and waste on Saturday, October 6 in Albuquerque. This workshop will give you the tools to help move New Mexico away from nuclear weapons production and toward a truly secure future. The event will take place at Monte Vista Christian Church (3501 Campus Blvd., N.E., Albuquerque, NM) from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and is sponsored by the New Mexico Conference of Churches and the National Religious Partnership on the Nuclear Weapons Danger. To register, please contact Holly Beaumont at habeaumont@aol.com or call 505-660-5018. See the full workshop schedule: http://www.faithfulsecurity.org/html/nm_oct6.htm. Please feel free to encourage your friends to attend as well. To find out more about the “Reliable” Replacement Warhead, see FCNL’s website: www.fcnl.org/nuclear/ Sincerely, Kathy Guthrie Field Program Secretary |
